Support Operation Fuel by participating in Birdies for Charity, a fundraising program of the Travelers Championship!

What is Birdies for Charity?

Birdies for Charity is a national model of fundraising for nonprofit organizations that the Travelers Championship launched in 2004, as part of the PGA Tour’s Tradition of Giving Back. Every nonprofit in Connecticut has the opportunity to participate in Birdies for Charity and raise funds by collecting pledges base don the number of birdies made by Tour professionals during the week of the Travelers Championship. 100 % of the collected pledges are distributed to the charities of designation.

The Travelers Championship’s Birdies for Charity program is sponsored by J.H. Cohn, LLP and is endorsed by the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits. In 2009, the program generated more than $335,000 for more than 90 nonprofit organizations in Connecticut.

How Does Birdies for Charity Work?

A birdie is a score of one stroke better than par for any golf hole. PGA TOUR professionals are anticipated to make an average of 1,500 - 2,000 birdies, Wednesday – Sunday of the Travelers Championship. In Birdies for Charity, those birdies equal money for Operation Fuel!

Pledges are solicited based on the number of birdies made. Pledges can be as low as one penny!

The more pledges we gather gather, the more funds Operation Fuel will raise. If 1,500 birdies are made: 1 cent = $15; 10 cents =$150; $1.00 = $1500. Think of the possibilities!
