Assistance Programs for Aquarion Water Customers

Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut is pleased to announce that it has allocated a sum of $50,000 to its Customer Assistance Programs to assist customers in need with the payment of their water bills.

Assistance Programs for Aquarion Customers

Customer Assistance Program (CAP)

Customer Assistance Programs are available to customers who are either homeowners in Aquarion’s service territory or contractual renters (water bill must be in renter’s name) who pay a monthly water bill. This program runs between July 1st & June 30th. Once the $50,000 has been allocated, the program will conclude. Customers may be eligible for a one-time grant of up to $250. Customers current with their bill may be eligible for a one-time voucher, per customer, in the amount of $50.

Low Income Rate Assistance Program (LIRAP)

Low Income Rate Assistance Program (LIRAP) is a new customer assistance program from Aquarion that provides a 15% on-bill discount for eligible customers in Connecticut.

Who is eligible for the program?

Aquarion Water customers can apply through Operation Fuel for LIRAP and CAP. We will confirm your identity and qualifications for the LIRAP program to ensure guidelines are followed. Customers must have an income that is 60% of the state median income (SMI) or lower to qualify & have made at least 4 payments in the past 12 months.

How does it work?

If you qualify for the program, you’ll receive a 15% discount that will be applied to your Aquarion Water bill each month.

How to apply?

Click here to download and fill out the application. You will need to provide basic information about your household & documentation to show income within the last 30 days or categorical eligibility through an income-based program. Once completed, your application must be submitted to Operation Fuel for review and approval via email, fax, or by mail. Types of documentation accepted:

Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Helms Housing recipient paying the minimum

Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher Program)

State-Administered General Assistance (SAGA)

Rental Assistance Program (RAP)

Medicaid

Connecticut Energy Assistance Program

Paystubs (30 days of income)
