Operation Fuel Starts Fundraising Season With $1 Million Goal
Bloomfield, Conn., November 17, 2011—As Operation Fuel kicks off its annual fundraising campaign, the statewide non-profit is anticipating a substantial increase in requests for emergency energy assistance this coming year as a result of federal budget cuts, high unemployment and rising energy costs.
“We expect there will be an unprecedented demand on Operation Fuel this winter, especially from vulnerable households with young children or elderly residents on a fixed income,” said Executive Director Patricia Wrice. Because so many people are at risk, Operation Fuel’s winter program already has started for households in crisis.
