Northeast Utilities Foundation Donates $625,000 to Operation Fuel

The Northeast Utilities Foundation today donated $625,000 to Operation Fuel for energy assistance for families and senior citizens who live in communities that are served by Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and Yankee Gas, for the largest single corporate donation in the energy assistance program’s 34-year history.
“As a result of this very generous donation, Operation Fuel will be able to help more than 2,000 additional families this winter. We greatly appreciate this support, which could not have come at a better time. Through the years, Northeast Utilities, CL&P and Yankee Gas have been key partners of ours,” said Operation Fuel’s Executive Director Patricia Wrice.
“CL&P has been with Operation Fuel since the beginning, providing support and assistance through a variety of programs, outreach and corporate resources,” said Jeff Butler, president and chief operating officer of Connecticut Light & Power. “Partnerships with organizations such as Operation Fuel are vital to the health and strength of our Connecticut communities.”
“Yankee Gas is proud to continue our support of Operation Fuel again this year,” said Rod Powell, president and chief operating officer of Yankee Gas. “As we see signs that the general economy is beginning to improve, the stark reality is that many in our communities continue to need our help and assistance.  We hope our contribution encourages other Connecticut businesses to support energy assistance programs as well.”
